Any maker's robot, camera or sensor. One site mind.
Cereal OS is the site mind: one mind for every robot and device on a site, from any maker. Works with Cereal is how a maker of robots, cameras or sensors connects its devices to it and gets them certified, and how a site knows a device is ready to join. Open to build, certified to deploy.
Makers connect. Sites stay in charge.
Connect once. Join every site that runs Cereal.
Connect your robot, camera or sensor through Cereal's interface with the Cereal Connect kit, test it against our conformance suite, and get it certified. A certified model can join any site that runs Cereal, beside devices from other makers, without a custom integration for each customer.
One place for every device, whoever made it.
Factories, warehouses and buildings keep one console and one set of rules: the site's people and permissions, every place by name, one stop that always wins, and a record of every action, across every maker's robots, cameras and sensors. A certified device joins only when your admin accepts it.
What a certified device may do on a site.
L0 fits every device: a robot, a camera, or a sensor for temperature, pressure, wind and the like. L1 and L2 are for devices that move or keep a record.
It shows up. It takes no commands.
For every device. It appears on the site's console and in its reports: where it is, its health and what it reports, from a robot's battery to a sensor's temperature, pressure or wind readings. Cereal sends it nothing that moves it.
It takes tasks between named places.
For devices that move. Everything in L0, plus tasks between the site's named places, under the site's permissions and approvals. Cancel and stop always work, and every task lands in the site's record.
It signs its own record.
Everything in L1, plus the device signs its record entries with its own key, so the site can check what the record says against the device itself.
A level is granted to one model, firmware and adapter together, never to a maker as a whole. Each device still earns its level on site when it is set up.
Reviewed by Cereal, tested on a real robot.
Build and test in a sandbox.
Partners build an adapter with the Cereal Connect kit and run the conformance tests on their own devices, in a sandbox kept apart from every customer site.
Cereal reviews the combination.
Each model, firmware and adapter is reviewed together: the test report, rerun by us; where the robot's data goes, on site only or through a declared maker cloud; and the exact versions.
A stop test on a real unit.
For a device that moves, we stop a real unit in the middle of a task and measure the time until it is still. Its own local stop must work first. Stop always wins over every other request.
Each robot is enrolled and accepted.
Every unit is enrolled with its own key and joins a site only when the site's admin accepts it. A new firmware is a new review, and a certification lasts at most twelve months.
When something about a certified combination is in doubt, Cereal can suspend it: new tasks stop, running tasks are cancelled, stop keeps working, and the site's admins are told.
The badge, a listing, and customers.
The badge
The Works with Cereal mark with the level you hold, such as Cereal Certified L1, under a license from Cereal.
A listing
Certified models are listed for sites that run Cereal, with their level and where their data goes.
Customers
Sites that run Cereal can add your certified devices beside the ones they already have, and keep one set of rules for all of them.
Works with Cereal, and the level you hold.
Who may use it
- Only partners with an active certification may use the badges, and only for the models and the level certified.
- Show the level you hold: L0, L1 or L2. Never a higher one, and never on a model that is not certified.
- "Cereal robot" means a robot Cereal ships. A partner's robot is "Works with Cereal" or "Cereal Certified" with its level.
- The license can be revoked. A suspended, revoked or expired certification ends the right to the badge for that model.
- Use the files as supplied, dark or light. No new colors, words or shapes.
- The badge grants no other right to the Cereal name or marks.
Certified partners get the badge files and the full usage guide with their license.
One body today. The program opens now.
Today one robot body runs Cereal OS on a real site: our own robot, live in a home. In a workshop run, one Cole ran a robot dog and robot arms from two different makers on one job. No outside maker is certified yet. The program opens with its first partners now.
The spec and the kit are shared with partners under NDA, and published once a second body passes certification.
How the badge looks in use.
Where a certified partner shows it: on the robot or device, on the box, by the price in a store, and in the site's console.

Build with us, or bring your devices.
Makers of robots, cameras and sensors: tell us about your device and we set up a call. Factories, warehouses, buildings and other sites: tell us what you run, or plan to run, and where.
Questions.
Is the spec public?
Not yet. The spec and the Cereal Connect kit are shared with partners under NDA. We publish them together with the first outside certification, once a second robot body passes.
Can any device join a site that runs Cereal?
Only models Cereal has certified, and each unit only after the site's admin accepts it. Partners build and test in a sandbox, apart from customer sites, until their model is certified.
Does certification mean a device can do any task?
No. Certification says that one model, firmware and adapter may connect to customer sites at one level. Each site still decides what a device may do and where, and every unit is set up and checked on site before it works.
Is a certified robot a Cereal robot?
No. A Cereal robot is one Cereal ships, end to end. A partner's certified robot says Works with Cereal, or Cereal Certified with its level.
What does it cost?
Sites pay a monthly software fee per robot for robots they already own, whatever the body. It starts once a second body passes certification. Partner terms are shared under NDA.
Who is certified today?
No outside maker yet. The program opens with its first partners now, and we name a partner only once their model is certified.
